New updated photos and stories regarding the Penrith PRLT and their history.  Look under the (police teams 1970 to present) category, and the year  2000, photographs of Penrith playing Liverpool in one game, and the Macarthur bulls in another.  Also under 2001 there is a comprehensive history of the Penrith PRL.  Thanks to Mark Hillier for the information.

2013 will be an exciting year for the NSWPRL.  Unfortunately due to logistics and costs, some of the Sydney based teams could not commit to the Port Macquarie carnival.  As such the NSWPRL are going to revert to the old concept of a Sydney based competition.  At this stage eight teams have committed to playing in this competition.

As the country Police are a huge part of our organisation, the NSWPRL are considering options of either holding games between Country North, Country South and the Central Coast teams.  A combined country representative team will be selected from these games and travel to Sydney to play a combined City team.

Planning is underway and stay tuned for updates.......

The 2012 NSW State team endured a tough match against their Queensland counterparts. Queensland were victorious running out winners 20-8. The match was in the balance at 14-8 with only minutes to go. NSW were attacking the Queensland line, but a few costly errors robbed them of their chance to take the lead. Slick Queensland five eight James Bartholomew cut through the NSW defence to score under the posts in the final minutes.

In the second game, NSW were far too fit and classy for the Affiliated states, running out winnters 60-12.

More information including the Australian squad that will travel to Great Brittain next year for the Police world cup, will be updated by the end of the week. Thanks to all our supporters.

The Australian Police side were gallant in defeat at Brookvale oval yesterday. Thursday the 24th September 2011, saw the Australian affiliated states team race in thirty points in the first half against the Australian Police team. The Australian Police side was first to score, but a glut of possession to the affiliated states team and a one sided penalty count saw them gain momentum and post thirty unanswered points in the first half. The Affiliated states team seemed well schooled in the ruck area and constantly slowed down the Australian Police play the ball. At half time the Australian Police team remained positive whilst the scoreboard showed 30-6. Coached by Queensland Police coach Terry Borland, the Australian Police dug deep in the second half winning the second half 18-6, however it wasn't enough and the overall score favoured the affiliated states 36-24. The Police really dominated the second half and ran out of time after steam rolling their more fancied opposition. Best for the Australian Police team were Marc Smith, Robbie Mears, Mitch West and Queensland centre Mahon who posted two tries and was unlucky when pulled up for a double movement scoring a third. The Australian Police enjoyed a five day camp based at Manly and the two states fostered excellent camaraderie. See the 'Australian reps' category for team photograph.

Friends

We need your help.

The NSW Police Force Branch of the Men of League is holding its first fund raising activity with a golf day at Ryde Parramatta on the 27th October. The focus of the day will be to raise urgently need funds for an inspirational 7 year old girl Georgia Sindel. Georgia is the daughter of a serving police officer and her dad is a corrective services officer.

Please take the time to read the attached story of Georgia’s life so far, it says it all but in short she suffers from Cerebral Palsy, Cortical Vision Impairment, right side spastic quadriplegia and Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Georgia has significant mobility impairment; poor muscle control and coordination, limited movement and severely affected motor skills.

Chances are Georgia will never have the fun of walking let alone running around with other kids because her frail hips will not be able to support her body, leaving her dependant on a motorised chair. We aim to at least raise enough money to buy her the chair that she so desperately needs.

This is not just about friends getting together for a game of golf but a day to raise enough money to make a little girls life better and to help her parents Kim and Chris cope with what will be a long hard journey. If you can help in any way it will be much appreciated.

All donations are tax deductible and funds raised will be put in trust for Georgia and managed by the Men of League Foundation.

We ask that you consider one of many options, sponsorship of a hole at either $1,000 or $500, donation of goods and/or services for prizes and raffles, a cash donation or raise a team and come along on the day. Those who sponsor a hole will have the opportunity to display banners or distribute advertising material.
